Press play for a dreamy soundtrack to this week’s letter
Hello friends,
I’m sorry for not writing last week. If you’ve been here for a bit, you know my antidepressant has stopped working. After seeing a psychiatrist, I’ve been in the process of tapering off Cymbalta and switching to Prozac. The word “process” doesn’t encompass the nightmare of withdrawing from this drug, though. For two weeks now, my head has been full of bees. Even moving my eyes triggers dizziness that travels down my whole body. Not to mention sports. Everything sports is making me cry right now.
Back to the bees. It’s not only that my head literally feels like it’s full of bees. I can’t focus on anything either. I lose words mid-sentence, and that’s when I can manage to gather my thoughts enough to start making sentences at all. So if this week’s letter feels a bit scattered and rudimentary—it is.
Cymbalta should be illegal. Yes, it worked for a few years, but getting off of it is harrowing. When I’m not dealing with the bees and the crying at sports, I’m trying not to let myself fall into a pit of withdrawal-induced despair. I can hear how dramatic it sounds even as I write that, but that doesn’t make it untrue.
Anyway, I’m keeping it short this week, mainly because I have nothing to say that isn’t whiny. I’ll continue to fend off the bees. In the meantime, enjoy the links below.
Until next time,
