Everyone is afraid, but we're hopeful too
Hello, friends.
Today I turned on Fox Sports and watched a virtual race. The race featured real NASCAR drivers competing from their garages and bedrooms. All three regular Fox Sports broadcasters called the race, and #iRacingProInvitational was the number one trending topic on Twitter. It was an hour and a half of pure joy and lots of laughs. In this time of social distancing, a whole community came together to make this race happen. And for a moment, the stress of COVID-19 disappeared.
I don't have words for how wild and unreal this whole situation is. Economies are crashing, and people are dying, and the world is shutting down. But amid all the chaos, I have seen some of the best of humanity. People are coming together to care for one another and keep each other afloat. Everyone is afraid, but we're hopeful too.
No one knows how long this will last or how bad it will ultimately be, but we know the world will be different when it's over. For now, though, I hope you're all doing ok. Stay hydrated. Hug your pets. Listen to your favorite songs. Watch Netflix with all your friends. Make art. Find a way to keep going.
This past week has felt like a year, and things are going to get worse before they get better. All we can do is be there for each other, even if it's over FaceTime. If any of you are feeling down, feel free to respond to this email. I'm here for you. Also, let me know some of the beautiful things you've seen. I'd like to share them in next week's email.
Until then, stay safe,
Yardena
