Hello friends,
Can you believe this? I’m sharing my Soaring Twenties Social Club Symposium piece early in the month again! I’m on a roll. Granted, I wrote this poem many years ago, but I haven’t published it here yet. Let’s not think about it too much. Here’s my entry for Romance.
I am the ocean you do not know. They didn’t teach you about me in school because they do not know I exist. I am uncharted territory. I will swallow you whole and smile as you sink below my surface, mapping the ridges and valleys of my depths. I’ll show you things you never knew, because you didn’t know where to look. I’ll guide you to another planet, another time, and as you float within me, I will sigh, content, knowing it’s not the world that you desire, but me.

Currently on repeat:
I love when Abigail Ervin Penner draws things. Here she is illustrating what it feels like to be hopeful but also choked with crippling anxiety.

I love the confidence of the final line, "it’s not the world that you desire,
but me."!
