Finding ways to lift the weight
Hello friends,
Well, we're one week into 2021, and the crazy train hasn't slowed a bit. We've lived through so much insanity in the past year, though, that my brain no longer seems to be bothered. I don't mean that I don't care. I absolutely care that the world seems to be burning down around us. But I think I've maxed out on anxiety for any future historical events that might occur. I think 2020 broke my brain.
With no immune system, I've been holed up in my house for almost an entire year. I've had several mental breakdowns along the way. Tears and stress and fear all fueled me until there was nothing left. Running on anxiety is no longer sustainable. So today, I'm going to share a few things that have brought me joy recently.
I bought a lap desk. Now I can comfortably work on the couch without killing my neck. Hooray!
My grandma gave me a sewing machine! I've been learning how to mend things by hand, but now I want to learn to make things from scratch. My mom has already enlisted me to make her a new set of curtains.
I think the roll of film I'm almost done shooting is going to be awesome once I get it developed. I'll share a few of the images on social media, but patrons will get to see the whole thing.
Speaking of Patreon, I've decided to start a new weekly column exclusively for patrons. I'll post the first one on Monday for everyone to read, so be on the lookout!
I could keep going, and that itself brings me joy. Five is a nice round number, though. What are five things that have brought you joy lately? Please reply to this email and let me know. I really do want to hear from you.
I know many people are hurt and angry and afraid right now, and that's ok. You're allowed to feel however you feel. But mirroring the world's negativity inside myself is crushing me. So I'm focusing on joy. I'm finding ways to lift the weight. I hope you are too.
Shabbat shalom,
Yardena
