Hello, friends.
You might notice the newsletter looks a little different today. That’s because I’ve moved over to Substack. When I started on Patreon, I felt like I had to offer numerous rewards to entice people to pay for my work. I didn’t think my writing alone would be enough for people. But as I continue to see people I admire move their writing to Substack, I looked into making the switch.
Over the past few days, I’ve worked on setting up my new Substack account. And the beautiful thing is that there wasn’t much to set up. I created a new logo for Letters on Being, chose an accent color (dark indigo), and personalized the automated emails that go out when someone subscribes. At first, the lack of personalization irked me a bit, but now I’ve come to appreciate it. Substack keeps the focus on the writing, which helps me focus on the writing as well.
Now for the fun part. Letters on Being will always remain free, but paying subscribers will get bonus goodies. Those goodies include access to my monthly Mundanities column, participation in subscribers-only discussion threads, voice notes, and more. Subscriptions will be $5/month or $50/year. You’ll also have the option to pay whatever you’d like (above the $50/year) if you want to take your support above and beyond. Because you all are making the switch with me, I’m gifting you a free subscription for one month. Just click the button below to redeem your free trial. No worries if you don’t want to re-up at the end of the month (even though I hope you will). If you want to cancel your subscription, though, make sure to do so before the month is up. Your subscription will renew automatically otherwise.
Links I Love
That’s it for today, but I’ll have our first discussion thread up this week. I’d love to hear from you all. Also, if you’re so inclined, please share this newsletter with a friend.
Here’s to new adventures,
Yardena
