Welcome to this month’s meeting of the Sad Poets Society. Today, we’re discussing the poetry of Forugh Farrokhzad. Beloved in Iran, Farrokhzad’s poetry was ahead of her time. She wrote with a fearless yearning that touched an entire generation. I highly recommend this short essay for a better glimpse into her life and work.
For now, though, I want to look at Farroukhzad’s poem “The Wind Will Blow Us Away,” translated by Sholeh Wolpé.
