Thirty-One: Week Twenty-Four
Days one hundred and sixty-two through one hundred and sixty-eight
Welcome back to Thirty-One, the project where I attempt to write something every day for a year. If you missed any previous issues, you can find them here.
Day One Hundred and Sixty-Two (October 5th) Even the anticipation of cooler weather brings a chill of excitement. The summer hibernation is coming to an end. Day One Hundred and Sixty-Three (October 6th) Sometimes my mind feels like a vast desert. I know life exists there; I’m just having trouble seeing it beyond the wide-open expanse of nothingness. Day One Hundred and Sixty-Four (October 7th) October is supposed to be spooky fun. The horrors aren’t meant to be real. Day One Hundred and Sixty-Five (October 8th) Everyone I know is safe, but everyone they know is not. Will the hate never end? Will we never escape from this darkness? Day One Hundred and Sixty-Six (October 9th) I can’t stop checking the news. I can’t stop checking in with my friends. I can’t stop checking to make sure this is real. Day One Hundred and Sixty-Seven (October 10th) Forty babies. There are no words. Day One Hundred and Sixty-Eight (October 11th) All day, grey skies grumbled, gathering the storm. Be patient, they said. At night, the clouds fulfill their promise. It’s as if they know the rain is my favorite lullaby.
I’m offering this project for free, but if you’d like to support me (and get access to our poetry club), consider subscribing. That would be cool.
I love these daily lines :). Sometimes it takes me a while to get through my inbox so I read several weeks' worth at once. It's a lovely rhythm and peek into your experiences of life - thank you!
I was wondering if you'd be open to some of your lines being featured on a future post of Three Things Weekly? R x
