Thank you for your candor and guidance. Beautiful. I'm having some February anniversary grief lately about a friend I lost a long time ago, although it's faint due to the distance of years. It seems... small... next to your challenges, challenges I can only imagine, and even then, likely not imagine well. Thanks again. Your blend of optimism and reality, daybreak and sunset, does indeed accent the need for acceptance of balance.

Grief is never small, even grief tempered by the passage of time. There’s no need to compare challenges. We can only face what’s put in front of us.

"This isn’t a call for endless or unfounded optimism. Sometimes life is shit, and all you can do is cry. But when someone reaches out a hand to coax you out of your misery, take it. Let yourself be guided back to the light."

Beautiful. Thank you for this, Yardena. Your honesty is both inspiring and refreshing.

I wish I'd learned these things earlier. Now all I can do is try to share what little wisdom I've gleaned.

I'm going to send this piece to my friend who has Parkinson's. He will feel understood by your words in a way he likely can't feel understood by so many. The thing giving me grief is not know what path to move forward on right now. Thanks for sharing so honestly.

I hope your friend finds a bit of comfort in my words. You can never truly understand what it’s like to live with a chronic illness or disability until it happens to you. But when it does, you realize it’s just a different way to live.

As for your grief, I hope you find your path soon. I talked about how darkness can become too comfortable, but sometimes sitting with your uncertainty for a time is the best way forward. If MS has taught me anything, it’s that pausing until an answer comes is itself a practical path.

Ah good words, all of them, and isn't it funny how extreme "pausing" feels and yet how critical it is. Thank you for the advice, it is solid and appreciated.
